Making your own arrangements to go to Medjugorje
|
|
 |
There is so much information that only sites which can act as starting points are included. The first ones deal with travelling to Croatia, as travelling from Split (in Croatia) is the same for most travellers, although now the coaches from London also go to Mostar |
Travel by Coach. |
It is possible to travel from UK to Sarajevo, or Mostar, via London (Victoria) and Belgium. For details Click here |
Travel by Air |
It is possible to travel to Croatia by air, and there are many airlines, including British Airlines to Zagreb. There is an airline - Air Bosna - which flies to Sarajevo, but I will add these details later. Flights from Tour Operators ‘HOLIDAY OPTIONS’ Tel: 0870 013 0450
You can go to Dubrovnik from Gatwick, Birmingham, Norwich and Manchester. You can go to Split from Gatwick, Birmingham, Norwich and Bristol.
‘EXCEL AIRWAYS’ TEL: 0870 169 0169 flies to Split & Dubrovnik from Gatwick only.
It is also possible to go to Italy, and there are other airlines doing this, including Ryanair, then using ferries - see below for more information. |
Travel by rail. |
Again, there are good sites for getting to Italy, but not much further in a comprehensive way. I will add details as I find them, but the following may be useful. European Rail, and another European rail site |
Ferry Services. |
There are a number of ferries, some coming across the Adriatic from Ancona, and others coming down the coast from Trieste. For details of some of these Click here, or here |
Information from Sr. Emmanuel re travel. |
For those who wish to travel to Medjugorje at low cost, there is a bus leaving from the Bus Station in Trieste (Italy) at 6:00pm every night, arriving in Medjugorje the next day around 8:30 am. Cost: 38 Euros.
Ireland or England to Trieste?? Check out Ryanair and fly from destinations all over Europe for 100 Euros or less! Including incredible rates from Dublin, Cork, Derry, Kerry, Knock or Shannon - London, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bristol, Bournemouth, Leeds, East Midlands, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Newquay, Durham Tees - Trieste average rate 60 Euros.
Mainly for the young people I would say!!!
PLEASE NOTE
With the above ‘ALTERNATIVE WAYS’ make sure that you are well covered by your Insurance because the ‘buck stops with you’ if anything goes wrong. |
Information about Bus travel. |
There are a number of sites which give details of bus and coach services in the area, from Split and Dubrovnik. Although I cannot confirm these sites as being the answer to all enquiries, they will probably give much information on travelling to and from these places to Medjugorje. I have just listed them at present - they are :-
1. from Split
2. from Dubrovnik
3. another site
4. a Medjugorje site
5. Bus travel
6. another Medjugorje travel site |

Accomodation in Medjugorje |
There are a number of sites which include details of where to stay, but the Information Centre does not deal with this - it is purely an information centre on the messages. It is very easy, and reasonable, to book accommodation in Medjugorje and the house you stay in will transport you to and from the Airport. I have details of the following, but have not visited them.
Medjugorje Travel
Tourist Office Medjugorje
Finally a number of email addresses for help and accomodation - do let me know how these are :
